Abstract
DE LA PARTE PEREZ, Lincoln. Anestesia no cardiovascular en el paciente con cardiopatía congénita y flujo pulmonar aumentado. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2003, vol.75, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.
Infants and among them the youngest and with the least body weight suffering from congenital heart diseases with increased pulmonary flow and who receive anesthesia to undergo noncardiovascular surgical procedures, are at a great anesthetic risk . That's why, it is necessary to make emphasis on the fact that these patients usually present multiple anatomical alterations and cardiovascular physiology disorders with repercussion on different organs and systems, diverse associated diseases that worsen the prognosis, and that they frequently need medical treatment with digitalis, diuretics and vasoactive drugs very early. Taking this into account, the preoperative evaluation, including non-invasive research should be carried out by experienced cardiologists and when they are scheduled for surgical procedures, they should be referred to a center with resources and the necessary experience in the management of patients with congenital heart diseases. An updated bibliographical review on the anesthetic management of these patients is presented.
