A retrospective investigation was carried out in 60 patients admitted at the miscellaneous ward of “Marfán” Pediatric Teaching Hospital from January to December, 2002, with the diagnosis of urinary tract infection. The predominating age groups were from 1 to 5 in 43.3 %. Females were the most affected in 65 %. The highest incidence of males was obsderved in infants. Fever was the most found clinical form in the urinary tract infection in 50 % of the patients, with a predominance of infants. Low sepsis prevailed in children over 5. The most common findings in the laboratory analyses were leukocituria in 85 %, followed by microhematuria. Erythrosedimentation was accelerated in the upper infections and normal in the low infections. E. Coli was the most isolated germ in the urocultures, followed by Proteus rettgeri .
