CORRALES GUTIERREZ, Alexis; CARRILLO GONZALEZ, Tania T; VEGA CASTILLO, María P and MONTALVAN CABRERA, Jaime. Results of the management of over 43-week pregnancies. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2002, vol.28, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.
The results of the management of 353 patients with prolonged pregnancies beyond 43 weeks in "Mariana Grajales" Gynecological and Obstetric Hospital located in Santa Clara, Villa Clara province were shown in a descriptive study carried out from January 1996 to December 2000. The total number of prolonged pregnancies was 1866 and this group accounts for 18,9%; 67,9% had eutocic childbirth, with an index of cesarean sections of 30%. 59,4% started spontaneous delivery whereas 56,8% of induced labor was due to the fact that pregnancies were beyond 43,5 weeks. There was no severe depression at birth, neither at the first nor at the fifth minute. Serious neonatal morbidity was found only in one case for 0,2%. Results were shown as percentages.
