Abstract
MORA DIAZ, Iván and SANCHEZ REDONET, Edel. Present state of the patients with stage I and II breast cancer . Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.
A retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the epidemiological behavior and the survival in patients with breast cancer. The sample was composed of women affected by this stage I and II neoplasia that were treated at "Julio Trigo López" Hospital from 1989 to 1998. Kaplan-Meier's method was applied for calculating survival and the free-disease interval. An average age of 58 years old at the time of diagnosis is among the most remarkable results. 23 % of the patients had some close relative with the disease. The average life time was 10 years, but it was significantly different for women, according to the clinical stage. The disease-free interval was higher among patients in stage I. The therapeutic option or the histological type of the tumor were not modifying factors of the disease.
