Abstract

PEREZ PENA, Sonia; TAMAYO CURRO, Elvia; DIAZ GARCIA, María Elena  and  PEREZ RODRIGUEZ, Juana María. First report in Cuba about aeromonas isolation from extraintestinal samples. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1997, vol.26, n.1, pp.50-54. ISSN 0138-6557.

All the strains suspected of belonging to the family Vibrionaceae that were isolated from extrainstestinal samples from January, 1994, to June, 1995, were studied. Of the 15 strains isolated, 100 % belonged to the genus Aeromonas. There was a predominance of the hidrophila species. Most of the isolations were found in samples from hemocultures, associated or not with other microorganisms. It was shown how important it is to increase the search for germs from the genus Aeromonas due to their clinical repercussion.

Keywords : AEROMONAS [isolation & purification]; GRAMNEGATIVE BACTERIAL INFECTIONS [microbiology]; CUBA.
