Abstract

The irritable bowel syndrome is a very common disease in the daily medical practice within the military sphere that affects mainly those who have a high responsability. Due to its great variety as regards its form of presentation and therapeutic difficulty, it was made a review of the topic that included diagnostic criteria, the most frequent extradigestive manifestations, its clinical forms, as well as the most used treatments to control the disease.
