Abstract
MUNOZ RODRIGUEZ, Elena; BONNE JIMENEZ, Ofelia; ABREU DIAZ, Moraima and VALDES DEL SOL, Carmen. Utility of serum fructosamine in diabetic patients. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1997, vol.26, n.1, pp.75-79. ISSN 0138-6557.
Kits of reactives made in the country were used to determine the serum concentration of fructosamine in diabetic patients. A total of 400 individuals were analyzed: 200 non-diabetics (control group) and 200 diabetics; 160 of type and 40 of type I. Among these subjects there were males and females and their ages ranged from 17 to 22 years. There were significant differences between the control group and the diabetics, and between the type I and II diabetics. Besides, in 60 type II diabetics and in 2 type I there were found figures of serum fructosamine within the reference values. It was concluded that the kits of reactives utilized are useful to differentiate non-diabetic patients from diabetic ones, and that they may also give information about the metabolic control of the diabetics at a much lower cost than that at the international market.
