Abstract

FANO VIAMONTE, Roberto  and  LONGRES MANGUART, Aleida. Minimum inventory of blood components in a service of Hemotherapy from Havana City. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1998, vol.27, n.1, pp.39-43. ISSN 0138-6557.

A model of estimation was assayed in the service of Hemotherapy of "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine, Havana City, with the objective of calculating the minimum inventory or erythrocytes and plasma available to cover daily nedds of all clinical and surgical areas, including the emergency room. The minimum inventory of erythrocytes calculated for a day is as follows: Eleven units of A+; 5 of B+, 2 of AB+, and 13 units of 0+; 3 units of A-, 2 of B-, and 3 of 0-. Regarding plasma the inventory showed the following results: 7 units of A, 4 of B, 2 of AB, and 9 of O. The model reported here seems to be useful to avoid expiration and to increase efficacy since it reduces the regulat and emergency dispatch from the supplying centers.
