Abstract
PEREZ LORENZO, Marlén et al. Clinical and evolutive aspects in the acute relapsing or biphasic hepatitis A. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1998, vol.27, n.2, pp.73-78. ISSN 0138-6557.
106 male patients with acute viral hepatitis A were studied from December, 1994 to June, 1996. A weekly clinical and humoral follow-up performed during hospitalization. A monthly follow-up was also conducted during 3 months after hospital discharge until the definitive discharge. Those having a relapse underwent prothrombin time and anti-HAV IgM. 18 patients (16.98 %) presented a clinical and humoral picture compatible with relapsing hepatitis. 3 clinical variants of relapsing hepatitis were described. One of them had never been reported in medical literature. Variant II was the most frequent and caused the most prolongued marbidity in our series (16.1 %) 27 % of the patients with acute biphasic hepatitis showed signs of liver failure. These results warn about the potential evolution towards severe forms of this type of hepatitis.
