Abstract

VELAZQUEZ PEREZ, Luis  and  MEDINA HERRERA, Esther E.. Neurophysiological evaluation in the lumbar disc disease. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1998, vol.27, n.2, pp.94-100. ISSN 0138-6557.

A study of 100 patients with compressive lumbosacral radiculopathy was conducted trhough the analysis of late responses (F wave and H reflex). The results sttained were compared with those of a group of 74 normal subjects. It was determined that the prolongation of latency and the absence of response were the main alternations detected in H reflex, whereas the reduction of the number of waves obtained from a train of 20 stimuli was the most frequent abnormality found in F wave. These alterations showed the existance of an axonomyelinic involuement in this type of radiculopathy.

Keywords : LUMBOSACRAL REGION [physicology]; PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DISEASE; ELECTROMYOGRAPHY; H-REFLEX.
