MONTERO GONZALEZ, Teresita; DE MENDOZA AMAT, José Hurtado and IGLESIAS DUQUESNE, Magalis. Particularities of dead persons aged 15-49. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1999, vol.28, n.1, pp.9-16. ISSN 0138-6557.
1 776 adults aged 15-49 that died from 1962 to 1995 were studied. There was predominance of the male sex (M/F:1,48) and the average age was 35. 40 % died during the first 72 hours. The infection affected 58.3 % and it was less frequent that in other age groups. Multiple organ failure (48 %) was higher than that observed in other papers, whereas malignant tumors and violent death accounted for 20 % and 11.4 %, respectively. The main causes of direct death were: pulmonary edema and bronchopneumonia; and the basic ones were hypertension, atherosclerosis and burns. The clinical and morphological diagnostic coincidence in the basic causes was 66 %. The noncoincidence in the direct causes was 34.5 %.
