Abstract

APECECHEA COFFIGNY, Marta Rosa; LARIONOVA, María; SALAZAR RODRIGUEZ, Sirced  and  ABIN MONTALBAN, Gonzalo. Evaluación de la actividad antiulcerosa del 2"-0-ramnosil 4"-0-metil-vitexina de las hojas de Piper Ossanum . Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2000, vol.29, n.2, pp.114-117. ISSN 0138-6557.

A study was made on the antiulcer activity of a new flavonoid isolated from Piper ossanum leaves through extraction with ethyl alcohol, then purified with ethyl acetate, separated per polyamide column and re-crystallized. This flavonoid solution was orally administered to ten male Wistar rats weighing 150-200 mg. Also, a negative control group (water) and a group which was given sucralfato, a well-known anticulcer drug, were analyzed. Immobilization and cold stress pattern were used to cause gastric damage. The flavonoid solution showed an obvious antiulcer action expressed by injure index and percentage of lesion formation inhibition. It was concluded that this flavonoid performed comparable to sucralfato as an antiulcer substance.
