Abstract
BRAVO PEREZ, Rigoberto; PADRON SANCHEZ, Armando; PUGA TORRES, Mario Santiago and PENA DORADO, Rafael. ST segment regression: a prognostic indicator of reperfusion in the acute myocardial infarction. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2001, vol.30, suppl.5, pp. 47-55. ISSN 1561-3046.
A prospective and crosswise study was conducted on 50 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who received a thrombolytic treatment (TBYT) with recombinant streptokinase in the Intensive Care Unit of “Dr Luis Díaz Soto” Higher Institute of Military Medicine. The objective was to evaluate the % value of ST segment regression (STr) as a clinical indicator of myocardial reperfusion and its predictive importance of future complications. Significant differences were found (p< 0,05) between the percentage of ST segment regression and the following variables: door-drug interval, signs of low output (Killip and Kimball), ejection fraction, arrhythmias and the mean values of enzymes. It was concluded that if the Str is lower, the probability of disorders in the ventricular function is higher, less arrhythmias occurred, the enzymatic values are low and viceversa. The ST segment regression percentage constituted a clinical indicator of reperfusion and a predictive value of the left ventricle function.
