Abstract

GIL CRUZ, Juan J.; FELIPE MORAN, Armando  and  CHOY PINA, Roberto. Absceso epidural e hiperostosis del seno frontal. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2002, vol.31, n.2, pp. 140-144. ISSN 1561-3046.

Epidural abscesses are rare diseases in Neurosurgery. Some authors believe that they represent 5 to 25% of infectious intracranial diseases and are generally associated with neurosurgeries and sepsis in air sinuses and/or trauma. This paper sets forth a case report of a patient with an abscess associated with great reactive hyperostosis as a result of a right frontal sinus trauma. An extensive literature review was made but no other case with similar characteristics was found.

Keywords : EPIDURAL ABSCESS [diagnosis]; EPIDURAL ABSCESS [surgery]; CRANIOTOMY [methods]; FRONTAL SINUS [surgery].
