RODRIGUEZ LLOPIZ, Pedro Arturo. La Sanidad Militar Cubana y el Derecho Internacional Humanitario. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.
This paper is aimed at contributing to the knowledge of the humanitarian, ethical and patriotic traditions of the combatants of the Military Health Corps of the Cuban Patriots during the Ten Years' War and of the Liberating Army as the armed brace initiator of the Cuban Revolution in 1868 that always respect the most universal laws relating to the wounded, sick, prisioners and civil population involved in one way or another in the armed conflict between the Government of the Republic in Arms and the Spanish Colonial Regimen. A historical investigation was made to study the upsurge and development of the Internaltional Humanitarian Law and of Military Health in Cuba in the context of the Ten Years' War, starting from the honorable position of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the Father of the Homeland and the way he managed the situation. The precepts that have characterized the principles of the International Humanitarian Law since the initial time that marked the birth of the Cuban Nation are stressed. It is underlined the need of conveying these values and knowledge to our military medical professionals and students so as to contribute to the present Battle of Ideas.
