Abstract
BORGES HELPS, Alexis et al. Efecto de la terapia antihipertensiva sobre los patrones geométricos del corazón en la hipertensión arterial esencial. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.
The changes occurring in the geometric patterns of the heart and the correction of the alterations of the diastolic function of the essential hypetensive patients were evaluated. A descriptive longitudinal research was conducted in 400 essential hypertensive patients aged 30-60 from July, 1998, to July, 2000. The most significant finding was the correction of the abnormal patterns with the drugs used: 26 % were treated with captropil, 31 % with verapamil, 25 % with hydrochlorothiazide, and 28 % with atenolol. The application of an adequate antihypertensive therapy improves the geometric patterns of the heart in the hypertensive patient.
