RODRIGUEZ TAPANES, Vivian; MONTERO FERRER, Sigifredo; GARCIA LEBON, Rafael and REYES MARTINEZ, Margarita. Manejo laparoscópico del traumatismo abdominal. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2004, vol.33, n.2. ISSN 0138-6557.
A prospective study of 33 patients with abdominal trauma seen at "Luis Díaz Soto" Military Hospital from January, 2001 to July, 2003 was performed. The study included those patients that presented with hemodynamic stability and unclear evidence of requiring exploratory laparotomy. Open abdominal trauma was clearly predominant over the closed type in a ratio of 25:8 respectively. The prevailing age group was 20-40 years, the majority were males (27/6). Laparoscopic diagnosis prevented exploratory laparotomy in 76% of the injured with open abdominal trauma and in 50 % of closed trauma cases. Diagnostic laparoscopy showed high efficiency in diagnosis and management of the patient with abdominal trauma.
