Rheumatic diseases are chronic non-communicable diseases that had not received individualized attention among the population attended at "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" Military Central Hospital, which led to the conduction of a descriptive and retrospective study from 1999 to 2001. Its main objectives were to know the prevalence of this group of affections, as well as their clinical expressions and the subsequent impact on this type of patients. The study reported the results of 100 % of the patients that were given attention at hosptialization wards, outpatient departments and that underwent medical examinations to control their health. The information obtained was compatible with the following data: the most common diseases were reactive arthritis, osteoarthrosis and sof tissue rheumatisms. Average age ranged betweeen 25 and 47 years old. The non-steroideal antiinflammatory drugs together with physiotherapy were the most frequently used election treatments.
