Abstract

CASTILLO GARCIA, Ibrilio et al. Updating of exposed traumatic injuries: Part I. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.1. ISSN 0138-6557.

Topics on exposed traumatic injuries are still controversial in some aspects. That is why, it was suggested to review the updated criteria about it. The most used classification systems were described, and their advantages and disadvantages were also stressed. Some specific questions of articular traumatisms were dealt with. It was stated the significance of the proper use of antibiotics in exposed traumatic injuries. The amputation criteria in severe traumatisms of the extremities were described and briefly analyzed regarding its usefulness in the decision making. It was concluded that the permanent search of new solutions in connection with the exposed traumatic injuries must yield a greater benefit to injured patients.
