Abstract

MIRANDA GOMEZ, Osvaldo  and  GONZALEZ BAREA, Iván. Cutaneous leishmaniasis. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2007, vol.36, n.4. ISSN 0138-6557.

Leishmaniasis is a disease of the skin and the mucous membranes caused by protozoa corresponding to the genus Leishmania. According to the World Health Organization, the disease acquired epidemic proportions in Afganistan and in the refugee camps of this country in Pakistan, after the aggression of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization headed by the United States to Afghanistan in its war against terrorism. That's why, it was decided to present a case with presumptive diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis from a village, where it was observed an increase of cases confirmed with this affection.

Keywords : Cutaneous leishmaniasis; a case report.
