Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the development strategy in Cuba and its relation with economic growth, in the context of the Cuban model updating. To this end, our starting point is a multidimensional concept of development, in which economic growth is a necessity to the structural transformation and productive increase that guarantee population welfare. Furthermore, there are important lessons to be learnt from successful international experiences. Finally, the work presents the main elements to be considered in the design of a development strategy in Cuba´s current situation.
