Abstract

FERNANDEZ TABIO, Luis René. United States: Trans-Atlantic Alliance and Global Hegemony. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2015, vol.154, n.1, pp. 23-34. ISSN 0252-8584.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, and the Transpacific Partnership, together with the other free trade and investment agreements signed by the United States, are the main elements in the strategy to counterbalance the hegemonic decline of this country, or, at least, to preserve its leadership in the next decades. To this end, it requires the creation of a "Western civilization" mega-regional block that perpetuates its economic, political, social, cultural, and ideological vlaues system. The article briefly addresses such process' antecedents, the contributing factors, and possible general consequences for the world economic policy architecture, the international relations system, and the center-peripheral links, all of it facing the emerging powers.

Keywords : financial aspects of economic integration; trade; economic integration; international organizations; trade policy.
