Abstract

ROMERO G., Antonio F.. Recent Modifications and Limitations of Cuban Foreign Trade. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2015, vol.154, n.1, pp. 74-90. ISSN 0252-8584.

At present, there is a growth in revenues on account of the Cuban professionals' services exports, which, along with resources produced by tourism, and the significant level of remittances received, have determined an improvement in Cuba's BOP accounts. Nevertheless, a detailed analysis of foreign trade of goods and services reveals that, aside from the institutional bottlenecks, there are still many of its persistent limitations. The present article analyzes Cuban economy foreign trade's evolution in the period 2008-2013, and exposes the set of present obstacles and required transformations in order to effectively go forward as to the re-joining of the country's foreign economic insertion pattern.

Keywords : foreign trade; external deficit; international economic insertion.
