Abstract

ROMERO G., Antonio F.. Recent Performance and Un-Learned Lessons: Economic Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2016, vol.156, n.1, pp. 73-89. ISSN 0252-8584.

The present article analyzes the most recent economic and social evolution of Latin American and Caribbean countries. Besides, it summarizes some elements regarding the likely future development in the region, taking into account the modifications in the international economic context in the last months, and the structural and institutional obstacles that have historically limited the sustainable development with social inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean. Consequently, the text summarizes some of the non learned lessons in terms of growth and development policies in our countries, which explain the maintenance, and at times aggravation of those structural obstacles.

Keywords : economic growth; development; international economic insertion; Latin American and the Caribbean.
