Abstract

DIAZ FARINAS, Lázaro. Sismondism and Marxism: Delving into the Origins of Social Economy. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2017, vol.158, n.1, pp. 58-77. ISSN 0252-8584.

This paper delves into the origins of Social Economy, starting from the analysis performed by Simonde de Sismondi, according to Marx's classification, of social economy and views on the matter, especially Pierre-Joseph Prodhon's views, and cooperativism. Class struggle is also taken into consideration. Some epistemological determinants, especially Sismondi's deviation from classical analysis and his view on political economy, and the emergence of the mutualist movement are examined. Other views on the matter held by different thinkers throughout history are examined as well. Finally, a view on social economy is presented, which is similar to the one held by today's Latin American Left.

Keywords : social economy; marxism; mutualism; small property; sismondism.
