Abstract

A piece of research into the impact of the 2016 Ecuador earthquake occurred on April 16 with a moment magnitude of 7.8 on a simple random sample of businesses, and on the financial sector in the cities of Portoviejo and Manta located in the Manabí province, Ecuador, was carried out. The ability to recover from misfortune, and entrepreneurial spirit showed by businesspeople from Manabí was assessed.
