Abstract

MOLINA MOLINA, Ernesto. The Role of Capitalist Banking in the Functioning of Money Today. Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2021, vol.165, n.1, e9.  Epub Dec 15, 2020. ISSN ISSN.

Originally, money arose spontaneously as a result of the development of commodity production. With the development of credit and banking, today money is no longer a spontaneous result of the "free movement of goods". The article shows how with the development of capitalism different types of markets have emerged that have given new content to money; today we can talk about the commodity market, the capital market, the money market and the labor market. And in all of them, the State, through the activity of the banking and financial system, plays a regulatory role in the supply of money to serve the most powerful interests of capital.

Keywords : capitalist banking; fictitious capital; financial capital; industrial capital; credit money; real money; signs of value.
