Abstract
AGUIRRE, J.L; DEMEDIO, J and ROQUE, E. VARROICIDAL EFFICACY OF OXALIC ACID IN SUCROSE SOLUTION BY TRICKLING. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.2, pp. 118-122. ISSN 0253-570X.
Varroicidal efficacy of the oxalic acid was evaluated in sucrose solution 1:1, in dosage of 35 g/L and 40 g/L, two treatments with a 10 day interval, applied by trickling of 5 ml along the space between the honeycombs. Ten Jumbo hives with the brood chamber and one-half supper were treated with each dosage aNd six hives remained untreated. The efficacy was determined taking as base the reduction of the infestation rate in adult bees. The mean efficacy reached 82.81% and 90.58% respectively, without adverse effects, and the reduction of the brood area was a consequence of the beginning "winter" period. In the control group, the Infestation Rate increased. Oxalic acid showed to be a feasible option for Varroa mite control in Baja California Sur conditions.
