Abstract
ARECE, J; RODRIGUEZ DIEGO, J.G and OLIVARES, J. PRESENCE OF Cooperia curticei (Railliet, 1893) IN SHEEP FROM MATANZAS PROVINCE. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2008, vol.30, n.3, pp. 192-193. ISSN 0253-570X.
In order to verify the presence of C. curticei in Pelibuey sheep, 24 animals were slaughtered and adult worms were recovered from different parts of the digestive system. Cooperia spp. specimens were clarified in lactophenol solution and identified by the morphological key described by Soulsby. The male parasites showed symmetrical stressed spicules with an average size of 144.25 ìm and the distal portion slightly bent. In the females a failed tail was found. The intensity of invasion was 8 worms per animal.
Keywords : Cooperia curticei; sheep; helminths.
