Abstract
BAEZ, M; ESPINOSA, Ivette; VICHI, J and MARTINEZ, Siomara. STUDY OF in vitro SENSITIVITY AGAINST DIFFERENT ANTIMICROBIAL IN S. suis STRAINS ASSOCIATED TO PORCINE PNEUMONIA. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.1, pp. 57-62. ISSN 0253-570X.
Streptococcus suis isolation was carried out from lungs with pneumonic lesions on pigs. Isolates were identified by conventional and biochemical tests. The in vitro sensitivity was determined in sixteen isolates of Streptococcus suis against 10 antimicrobials by the diffusion method in disk agar. There were significant resistance pattern (P>0, 05) higher than those reported (2008-2010) in the previous period (2002-2004). The highest frequencies of resistance were observed for oxytetracycline 68.75% and spectinomicina 93.75%. The most effective in vitro antimicrobials were betalactamic, sulfamethoxazole/ trimethoprim and chloramphenicol, all above the 65% sensitivity.
