Abstract
TORRES GONZALEZ-CHAVEZ, Mitchell et al. Dorsal laminectomy in a case of cauda equina compression syndrome by partial spondylolysis of the L7 nerve roots in dogs. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2018, vol.40, n.1, pp. 00-00. ISSN 2224-4700.
The clinical evolution of a dog (Chihuahua breed) with a spinal trauma by bite is reported. This caused a partial fracture of the seventh lumbar vertebrae of the body. The dog first received a therapeutic management and subsequently surgery and rehabilitation were carried out. Diagnosis was made by simple x-ray of the spine and, together with the clinical picture of the dog that presented paraplegia, a cauda equina compression syndrome was produced by partial spondylolysis of the seventh lumbar vertebrae (L7). The surgical treatment consisted of a dorsal laminectomy between L7 and S1 to decompress the Filumterminale and the affected nerves. The correct surgical procedure and physiotherapy guaranteed the full recovery of the dog treated
