Abstract

PEREZ ROJAS, Niurka et al. Productive Potential of two Urban Cooperative Production Basic Units Located in the Municipality of Cerro, Havana, Cuba. UH [online]. 2017, n.283, pp.207-214. ISSN 0253-9276.

This paper presents the main results of pieces of case study research into two Cooperative Production Basic Units, located in the municipality of Cerro, province of Havana, Cuba, which are engaged in urban agriculture. The pieces of research were aimed at making a diagnosis of productive potential of these Units, focusing on administrative management and employee satisfaction. It was found that the use of soils, means of production, and new technologies; types of marketing; institutional relations; community involvement; and personal relationships are potentially productive. The pieces of research were carried out by the Rural Studies Team belonging to the Department of Sociology at the University of Havana, at the request of the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians which is concerned with expanding urban agriculture sector. Description of methodology, fieldwork, and presentation of results were performed from Mai 2013 to April 2014.
