Abstract

VILLAR BARROSO, Oscar Julián. Impact of the October Revolution on the Steppes of Central Asia. UH [online]. 2017, n.284, pp. 247-268. ISSN 0253-9276.

This paper critically examines how central Asian peoples were able to destroy the despotic feudal regime and quickly go from the Middle Ages to the 21st century modern age in just 74 years. It describes, through historiology, how these cultures made good use of all their potential and developed the potential offered by the Soviet system. This analysis contradicts the myth that socialism was an historical failure that is past now.

Keywords : Central Asia; Soviet Power; October Revolution; Russification; Socialism; Sufism.
