Abstract

GONZALEZ MAFUD, Ana María  and  PERDOMO CARMONA, Marialys. Approach to the Study of Discourse Markers in Samples of the Educated Speech of Havana. UH [online]. 2018, n.285, pp.25-49. ISSN 0253-9276.

The interest in discourse markers is reflected in increased terms and classifications in several disciplines and from different points of view, and, more recently, the publishing of dictionaries of discourse particles. Based on this matter, and using the methodology developed within the Proyecto de EstudioCoordinado de la Norma Lingüística Culta Hispánica Juan M. Lope Blanch (Project for the Coordinate Study of the Educated Hispanic Norm Juan M. Lope Blanch), this paper was aimed at examining the use of discourse markers in educated speech of Havana. One sample taken in 1990 and another one in 2010, with the distance in time between them being twenty years, were used. The results showed a noticeable increase of discourse markers in men belonging to the first generation, as well as informants' preference for them.
