Abstract

MARTI SANCHEZ, Manuel. From Phraseological Units to Phraseological Knowledge. UH [online]. 2018, n.285, pp. 50-68. ISSN 0253-9276.

In this paper, phraseological units are presented by examining their features and the features derived from their belonging to the highest category of formulaic language. On this basis, the nature of knowhow that speakers of these phraseological units have is challenged. From a didactic point a view, phraseological competence is an ill-defined concept, which leads to the conclusion that phraseological knowledge is the right term to be used, instead of phraseological competence. Phraseological knowledge is described in terms of instructions for use and interpretation.

Keywords : Phraseological Competence; Constructions; Formulaic Language; Common Places; Phraseological Units.
