Abstract

GONZALEZ MARTIN, Olga Rosa. Communication as a Tool of U.S. Foreign Policy towards Latin America. UH [online]. 2020, n.290, pp. 43-58.  Epub Nov 01, 2020. ISSN 0253-9276.

Information as one of the instruments of national power in the United States has been key in the implementation of its foreign policy. Hence, explaining how it has been used towards Latin America from a historical perspective is the central objective of this article. To this end, official documents, reports from think tanks and studies from academia were consulted, which helped to provide a holistic view of the phenomenon. The work is divided into two parts: the first for conceptual definitions and the second to explain how the information has been used in the region. The conclusions of the study are offered at the end.

Keywords : political communication; information; foreign policy.
