Abstract

GONZALEZ MARTIN, Olga Rosa. The Bolivarian Revolution: A Vision of the Media War on its 20th Anniversary. UH [online]. 2021, n.291  Epub Dec 01, 2020. ISSN 0253-9276.

The article focuses on explaining how the media war against the Bolivarian government has been conducted since it came to power in 1999. To this end, articles and research from different Latin American institutions and international organizations were consulted, as well as reports from the United States government and Venezuelan opposition groups, that have provided a holistic view of the phenomenon to be explained. Emphasis was placed on the role played by private media and its links with the United States Global Media Agency, as well as on the use of social media to discredit the Bolivarian government. In the end, conclusions are offered that are limited to the 20 years studied in this paper and could vary in the future based on events developing in Venezuela.

Keywords : United States; media; opposition; Venezuela.
