Abstract

Political parties constitute a fundamental element of the political system. Their relationship with the media has a special impact on their main functions of representation and political participation. This paper delves into this relationship, particularly in the use of information technologies, the Internet and especially social networks as new ways for the exchange between politicians and the social bases of the parties, the dissemination of political messages, the recruitment of voters and, above all, the ideological battle being waged between left and right in today's world.
