Abstract

RABAZA TORRES, Manuel De Jesús. Why does the Traditional Nigerian Ifa Constitute a new Theological Trend of African Origin in Cuba?. UH [online]. 2022, n.293  Epub Mar 03, 2022. ISSN 0253-9276.

This article is a continuation of the text entitled "Is the Traditional Nigerian Ifa a New Religious Movement or a New Theological Tendency in Cuba?" which appeared in issue 288 of the Universidad de La Habana magazine. At that time, emphasis was placed on offering the reasons why the Nigerian traditional Ifa present in Cuba cannot be qualified as a new religious movement in the Island. In the study now offered, we reflect on those causes that allow us to affirm that this practice constitutes a new theological tendency of African origin in the country. As in the first case, the arguments used contribute to settle the existing differences between the practitioners of the Nigerian and Cuban tendencies of Ifa in the Island, which conspire against unity and social cohesion, as well as against the Cuban culture and identity.

Keywords : identity; Iyaonifá; religion; yoruba.
