Abstract

IRIARTE CARCAMO, Claudia Regina. Priorities Definition as Components of Science and Technology for the University:: the Case of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2015, vol.34, n.1, pp.107-129. ISSN 0257-4314.

The article highlights some elements that characterize the definition of priorities as components of university science and technology, as from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras experience's perspective, who is a rector of the superior education in this country: Starting with a contextual description, some elements are debated towards the planning of science and technology in terms of social priorities and needs: general definitions on prioritization, universities' role in generating and applying knowledge, as to the context and needs of society; specific definitions to establish priorities; public policies, planning and financing for priorities definition; university autonomy and impact on the definition of priorities in the promotion of research, innovation, and development. Finally, some challenges towards the formulation of the scientific knowledge management policy are stated.
