Abstract

GALARZA LOPEZ, Judith  and  ALMUINAS RIVERO, José Luis. Managing strategic planning risks in higher education institutions. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2015, vol.34, n.2, pp. 45-53. ISSN 0257-4314.

Current changes of the context in which higher education institutions unfold, impose new challenges to the development of the processes they perform, which also demand the implementation of management approaches that will make possible to fulfill its social mission. For some decades, such institutions have enforced the strategic planning method to design a development project in a determined environment. However, in the light of the context's dynamics, such process runs some risks that make it vulnerable, and which, if they are not timely dealt with, they may damage the most genuine hopes that originate them. The present article insists on the need to implement management of risk method in the strategic planning process that the afore mentioned institutions carry out, so that it may contribute to the success of such process and the gradual growth of its quality.

Keywords : threats; quality; strategic management; risk assessment; vulnerability.
