Creating a culture of health, which is closely associated with a comprehensive general knowledge, is an issue to be included in universities' curricula, so that curricular activities can be performed in order to create a culture of prevention. This paper is aimed, thus, at redesigning the syllabus of Health Promotion as an elective course offered at the University of Havana. Starting by characterizing the course, this descriptive and empirical research identified strengths and weaknesses of its syllabus, which makes its improvement possible
