By means of the present independent learning, the students are able to achieve the best academic performance. Thus, the present work values the use of strategies that contribute to the development of the independent work of the student at Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena, Ecuador; strategies that can later on be incorporated to the study plan of the said university. A diagnosis on the use of strategies in the two careers, Basic Education and Touristic Development and Management, were taken as reference.
