Nowadays, institutional self-assessment is due to demands for universities to keep up with advances in society, and be at the same time a reflection of it. In this paper, critical fundamental processes in a higher education institution are assessed as an aid to the institutional self-assessment. Petri nets for modeling processes, and multi-criteria and validation techniques were used. The results show weaknesses in process quality. Some suggestions to enhance control are made.
