Abstract

LAGO SUAREZ, Viviana. Preliminary Results of an Improved Assessment System of Learning in the Human Biology Course Included in the Pre-Medical Program at the Latin American School of Medicine. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2019, vol.38, n.3  Epub Dec 01, 2019. ISSN 0257-4314.

This paper presents and analyses the preliminary results of an improved assessment system of learning in the Human Biology course at the Latin American School of Medicine, a major international medical school in Cuba, by taking into account cognitive, procedural, and axiological aspects. The need for the traditional assessment paradigm to be replaced with a learning process-based paradigm was the problem to be solved, so learning could be promoted. Measuring and survey were the methods used for data collection. Shortcomings in assessment practices were identified. A frequency distribution and statistics showed that the group which used the improved assessment system exhibited a higher level of satisfaction with the assessment practice, and gained more knowledge of this.

Keywords : Aspects of learning; learning assessment; training function.
