From former times to the present day, new and better ways of assisting people to choose a career, prepare for it, and enter higher education have been continuously searched for. In the realm of education, repeated efforts have been made to find them, by means of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools. In this paper, the progress made to create a virtual vocational guidance system which allows people interested in graduating from a university to be assisted in real time is showed. An action research was carried out for gathering information from the applicant, and improving the system. The preliminary results show an increased number of students who have used the system, which allows us to make suggestions for finding ICT tools as aids for an effective vocational guidance.
