Continuous development as essential to Cuban higher education has caused teaching, research, and extension to be focused on functions performed by agents involved. The academic personnel for a specific academic year, teaching Technical Sciences, were studied, because they are the ones who properly manage the process of training professionals competent and committed to society. This paper is aimed at examining what aspects professors should take into account when leading academic personnel for specific academic years. Executives and professors at the Jose Antonio Echeverria Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPJAE, according to its abbreviation in Spanish) were interviewed and surveyed in order to identify what aspects were parts of the job performed by academic personnel for specific academic years. The results showed the importance of continuous pedagogical development, constant diagnosis, team work, and constant feedback.
