Evaluation of processes effectively and efficiently reveal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in their own set of rules, structures, and functioning, which allows strategies to be adopted to help effectiveness and decision-making. Efficiency is one of the most important indicators to evaluate processes, as measured by a comparison of results with resources invested. Academic efficiency of the process of training professionals is supposed to be measured through a body of indicators; currently, however, only a small number of them are being used on a systematic basis, but other indicators such as time and money could be used as well, which could help decision-making, and higher education be actually an investment for universities to be able to meet their social responsibility. This paper is aimed at underlying the importance of measuring academic efficiency as a system within the process of training professionals at Cuban universities, and contributing to data collection through other indicators which could support analyses for decision-making.
