LOPEZ RAMIREZ, Evangelina; MARTINEZ INIGUEZ, Jorge Eduardo  and  PONCE CEBALLOS, Salvador. Global Trends in Higher Education in the Mexican Context. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2020, vol.39, n.1  Epub Apr 01, 2020. ISSN 0257-4314.

In this paper, the current situation of higher education in Mexico, and sectors which make decisions about it and guarantee a quality education are examined. Higher education institutions (HEIs) should assume the social responsibility for training competent professionals who will get involved in their environment to contribute to the progress of their professions. University-society relation is essential for the future of higher education, because it enhances professionals’ sense of belonging and propensity to profession-centered service. HEIs recognize the pressing need for them to get updated, promote quality education, and comply with their social responsibility for training professionals.

Keywords : accreditation; humanism; university-society relation.
