Abstract

GARCIA SANTANA, Silvia Lilibeth  and  BRIONES PALACIOS, Yita Maribel. Main learning difficulties in students with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2023, vol.42, n.2  Epub May 10, 2023. ISSN 0257-4314.

The learning of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can become limited for various reasons, highlighting the lack of pedagogical action in the training processes. Therefore, the main objective was: to identify the main learning difficulties in students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The study methodology was oriented towards the qualitative approach based on the types of exploratory and descriptive research. The selection criteria for the content foundation have been scientific articles, doctoral and master's theses. The selected information responded to the last five years. The main results made it possible to show that ADHD is an alteration of neurobiological origin beginning in childhood characterized by the presence of clinical levels of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity. It was also possible to find out that children with this disorder are always restless, find it difficult to sit in the classroom and do not follow instructions, do not finish homework in the allotted time and are easily distracted by irrelevant stimuli. Similarly, they may present low self-esteem, limited social interactions and poor school performance. In conclusion, this disorder is closely linked to school failure because its characteristics are demonstrated across different academic areas.

Keywords : pedagogical action; learning; inattention; school performance; attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
